Synology NAS server – Asterisk – Oyoma – Android

NAS serverToday we received this interesting question about SIP server and NAS from a visitor of our blog:

“I was wondering if there is a way to configure Asterisk on the Synology DiskStation to be the SIP server and communicate with Oyoma Door Phone and android devices (Oyoma door phone client).
That would be fantastic. (Just cant figure it out)
Synology = Awesomeness (www.synology.com)”

I must apologize that I did not know the answer so I found this interesting link in French: : http://www.nas-forum.com/forum/topic/37989-tutoriel-configurer-asterisk-sur-serveur-synology/

A user on the forum mentioned above use the NAS server with a connected commands to allow his grandmother to make emergency calls when the SIP server discomfort when alone home.

My answer was then: “I think that it should work. There are few commands we have to care in order to avoid changes with video packets.
The only way is to try….”

    I have a Synology NAS running Asterisk at home, I could always test and report/write results if you offer me a NovoSIP 😉

    Asterisk now indeed is a standard package made available by Synology so in itself this is not such a strange question.

    Thank you very much for this kind proposal. Post has been published some months ago and we had already tested with success on Asterisk external server. Don’t hesitate if you are interested we can set one NovoSIP on your Asterisk SIP ID so you will see how our SIP video door phone is working through the Internet connection.
